Works Progressing Well at Oxford’s Historic Corpus Christi College

Works are progressing well on the multi-phase kitchen refurbishment at Corpus Christi College, one of the oldest Colleges at the University of Oxford, on which GSSllp are employed as Quantity Surveyors.

The kitchen is the oldest part of the entire site, dating back to 1485, and has therefore required much alteration and improvement works over the years. The new layout, which fits in to the existing footprint of the kitchen, is now much better suited to the needs of those using it, in particular with the replacement of the goods lift, which now links all three levels of the kitchen, removing the need to carry food up the staircase.

As a Grade II Listed building, it is of local significance, primarily due to its association with past students, aesthetic appearance and historical setting. For this reason, works at the College were carefully planned in order to ensure minimal intervention or damage to the existing structure and fabric of the building.
