Works Complete at Oxford’s Historic Corpus Christi College

The multi-phase kitchen refurbishment at Corpus Christi College, one of the oldest Colleges at the University of Oxford, is now complete.

GSSllp were Quantity Surveyors on the project at this Grade II listed building, which is of great local significance due to its historical setting, aesthetic appearance and association with past students.

With the kitchen building dating back to 1485, it is the oldest part of the entire site and has therefore required significant alterations and improvements over the years, in order to suit the needs of those using the space. The new layout fits within the existing footprint of the site, but has been redesigned in order to link all three levels of the kitchen via the goods lift, eliminating the need for staff to carry food upstairs from the basement to the ground floor level.

Through careful cost management the project was delivered within the allocated budget which is a fantastic achievement on a project of this nature, being undertaken within the curtilage of a historic building.
