Topping out Ceremony Marks Progress for Brackley Community Centre

The topping out ceremony for a brand new community centre on Radstone Fields, Brackley, took place on Wednesday 24th October at 10am.

The community centre has been designed as a multi-functional space to enable social engagements and meetings. The seating can be stored away to create a flexible space for musical and theatrical performances to take place as well community events, weddings and conferences. The ground floor also comprises changing rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, office, toilets, an entrance lobby and a separate meeting room available for hire.

The new building will provide excellent facilities, bringing significant benefit to the wider community. A palette of natural materials has been chosen, including natural limestone and a slate roof, ensuring the design and finish are in keeping with the surrounding area. GSSllp are providing Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveying services for the Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey Consortium for a new community centre.  The project is being delivered by the consortium in partnership with South Northamptonshire Council and Brackley Town Council. The Radstone Fields site is part of an urban extension to Brackley Town which will create 1000 new homes, a school, Country Park, central park and local shops.

Paul Vega, GSSllp Associate said, “The topping out ceremony of the new community centre is an exciting milestone in its development, and is the point in the project when everyone involved can start to see the building taking shape.”

Andrew Swindell, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton said “We are delighted to have been involved in the project from the onset and as the new community at the development continues to flourish, we look forward to the venue being fully utilised and bringing the residents of Brackley together”
